Policy Letter
ROP Student:
The following are GUHSD ROP policies in conjunction with the Grossmont Union High School District.
It is the responsibility of each student to follow all policies and procedures.
- Attendance - Please attend the first class meeting. ROP classes can only continue if student enrollment & attendance are maintained. If you do not attend the first class meeting, your place in the class may be given to a student on the wait list in order to maintain the required numbers and ensure continuation of the course.
- Textbook & Materials - Some classes do require a textbook rental or purchase and have material fees.
- Guest on Campus - Please remember you are a guest on a high school campus and you must conform to behavior, dress codes and all standards required by the school Administration. Interaction between ROP adult students and high school students is limited to course curriculum.
- Notice to all Students registered in Daytime Classes – You will be attending classes with high school students. On your first day of class, arrive 15 minutes early and check in at the High School’s Administration Office for a guest pass & permission to enter campus. You will be advised at that time of the school’s policy for ROP students on campus. Be prepared to present this receipt as proof of enrollment and to present photo identification. Students enrolling in ROP medical classes located at the Health Occupations Center are not required to check in with the Administration Office.
- Tobacco-Free District - Tobacco use (smoked or smokeless) is PROHIBITED at all times on all areas of school district property—including in any vehicle parked on school district property.
- Standby List - If you are on the standby list, DO NOT GO TO CLASS until you have been contacted by phone and registered through the ROP office.
- Articulation Credit - Your successful completion of an ROP course may allow you to receive credit at the community college. Students who take an articulated course and receive an “A” or “B” grade may obtain college credit for a like course at Grossmont or Cuyamaca Community College. See your instructor for more information.
- Dress Code - In an effort to improve the atmosphere for learning in the Grossmont Union high School District, students will dress in a manner that reflects positively on themselves, their parents, and their school. Just as adults must conform to workplace standards, so must studetns. Clothing must be in good repair and footwear must be worn at all times. A complete list of unacceptable attire can be found on the GUHSD website and is included in the students registration packets.
Consequences: Consequences range from a change of clothing provided by the school to suspension. In extremem cases a parent will be called to bring a change of clothing. Repeated defiance of the Dress Code may result in after school detention to suspension. The school is not responsible for confiscated items.
Gang Related Apparel: At individual schools that have a dress code prohibiting gang-related apparel at school or school activities, the principal, staff and parents/guardians participating in the development of the school safety plan shall define "gang-related apparel" and shall limit this definition to apparel that reasonably could be detemined to threaten the health and safety of the school environment if it were worn or displayed on a school campus.
